Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - The first game for the Auckland Team
Yesterday, the Auckland Regional Team played a fantastic first game
against the New Caledonia National Team. The atmosphere and level of
play was absolutely incredible and the game an awesome display of
Handball.
The
Auckland Team was particulary focused and motivated, and thanks to a
strong defense, they did not let the visitors to score much at the
beginning of the game. After leading 10-3 in the middle of the first
half, New Caledonia slowly came back on the Aucklanders, equalizing
19-19 near the end of the game. But with a
few intercepts and again a strong defense, the Aucklanders stopped New Caledonia from scoring
any more goal at the end of the game. Final score: 23-19.

tournament. So if you could let me know by the end of the week if your team
might be keen to come or not that would be great.
The deadline for
entering teams to the tournament will be provided later on, but in order to

Wednesday, June 06, 2007 - Referee Program
Together with the Autumn League, Auckland Region Handball has just launched its Referee Program. The two main motivations for this program are to immediately improve the quality of the referees and to train new referees for the future. If we want to increase the level of play in Auckland, we indeed need better referees for the league games, and more importantly, we need consitant referees that follow the latest IHF rules. Each club has therefore been invited to sudgest at least two experience referees or players so that Auckland Region Handball can train them to reach a good standard of refering. And to prepare the future, each club has also been invited to sudgest two residents that might not have much playing experience but that are keen to train and become good referees in the long term. To know more about this program, send us an email.

Wednesday, March 21, 2007 - Successfull Inaugural Meeting
Since last Sunday the 18th of March and our successful inaugural meeting at the ASB Stadium in Kohiramara, Auckland, the creation of Auckland Region Handball is now official.
Once again I would like to thank all the people who attended this meeting and the small round-robin tournament that we had afterwards. It was great to see so many new and old faces and we believe that it was a great way to launch this new association.
Many thanks as well to all the people who have helped making this project possible. A lot of discussions have taken place between all of us over the last weeks and I strongly believe that without this wealth of people and energy we would not be here today.
I would also like to thank all the people who have been involved with the sport of Handball in the Auckland Region in the past. As I mentioned earlier, this new association is the product of all the efforts and initiatives of those people, and without them, Handball would probably not be growing as strong as it does those days.
We really see this new association as the continuation of all the work done in the past, not as a revolution for the activity in the region. Instead, we much prefer the terms of restructuring and modernization so that we can keep up with the increasing interest for this sport and establish new poles everywhere to get even more people to play Handball in the Auckland Region.
It won’t be done overnight of course, but we believe that now is a good time to start and we already have a good number of people all around that are keen to help. And we welcome everybody to join us. There is definitely enough work for everybody so do not hesitate to email us if you would like to take part in the further development of Handball in the region.

Sunday, March 11, 2007 - Creation of Auckland Region Handball
It is with great pleasure that I would like to inform you of the creation of a new association for the promotion of our sport in this part of the world: Auckland Region Handball.
After many years and volunteers to promote the sport of Handball in the Auckland Region, it is indeed time for us to reorganize ourselves and move forward under a common banner for the benefit of all in the region.
This new association is the product of the actions of all these volunteers and comes at a time where Handball is reaching a peak in the Auckland Region with plenty of recent great news for our sport.
We're very excited about all this and hope to share some of that excitement with you guys. We also really hope to see you in Auckland to play some Handball here with us this year and to show you what we are doing. Your feedback and past experiences would be highly appreciated so do not hesitate to contact us.
